Human Factors Team Leader Mike Manser says, “We were pleasantly surprised that the video was liked and shared so many times on Facebook. It has received a large amount of support, and that is the best way for us to spread our message.”

The “I’m a Biker & I Ride” video has reached more than 55,000 views and 250,000 impressions on Facebook and YouTube. Launched on August 29, the video showcases real motorcyclists and reminds motorists to look twice.

The video was so popular that a second video was created to go along with the first. “I’m a Biker and I Wear My Gear” was created to educate riders about wearing their gear.

The video was created as part of the Texas Department of Transportation Statewide Motorist Awareness and Motorcyclist Safety Outreach and Support grant. The purpose of the project is twofold: to educate the motoring public about safely sharing the road with motorcyclists and to spread knowledge to motorcyclists about rider safety awareness.

The Center for Transportation Safety’s Human Factors Program, in conjunction with Texas A&M Transportation Institute’s Communications Group, created the video.

Human Factors Team Leader Mike Manser says, “We were pleasantly surprised that the video was liked and shared so many times on Facebook. It has received a large amount of support, and that is the best way for us to spread our message.”
